Starflower Christmas Lights in Brea, CA (Santa's Route)

Santa's Route

This year was my second time attending Santa's Route in Brea, California.  Honestly, its pretty awesome to see a neighborhood that is willing to work together in able to spread the holiday spirit. As soon as you approach this lite up neighborhood you are in awe with the car lines and the city police coordinating the flow of traffic. Each home definitely has their own flavor of decorations. Whether it be Star Wars, Incredibles, The Grinch, even Elsa and O'laf.

You can walk around the entire neighborhood and get your cardio on or even just simply cruse in the comfort of you vehicle with the heater and jams playing in the background. The city even provides a trolley to tour the neighborhood, you do have to purchase tickets at the local community center. Some residents have hot chocolate stands, popcorn, driveway bonfire's and live music. Some house's even set up their lights to synchronize with a holiday radio station. If you don't tune in the house lights just looks life a crazy rave that happening in the middle of the street. So, on second thought bump up some trap or bass music. Get that blood pumping for Christmas Day.

Just to give you all the heads up. Try to go a few weeks or even a few days before Christmas, because it could get jampacked at this event. Here's a tip. To avoid a long line, come from the west side of Birch Rd and turn right onto Starflower and make a U-turn in order to continue straight into starflower. The city completely blocks off the left hand turn onto starflower if coming from the west side. Also, you can go into the neighborhood on the other main street Lambert Rd. Other than that. Enjoy the show.

I recommend this free family event for all ages. It's pretty neat to see all of the resident's home's decorated all out and at the same time make awesome memories with your loved one's. This event goes on through out the whole month of December. If you weren't able to make this year. You always the next year to check it out.

I will be posting a YouTube video on Christmas Day(2018) to share my view on this local event.

HAPPY HOLIDAY'S!!!

Wine-o Fire: Arrogant Bastard VS The Bruery

Arrogant Bastard Black Metallic Stout

Joe - I’m a big fan of Stout beers and when I had seen arrogant bastard had created a stout that they released a Stout beer I was very excited to try it. I’m a fan of many of the Stone Brewing/Arrogant Bastard beers. My favorite beer was their Woot Stout beer that sadly they had changed the recipe this year and I didn’t care care for it. I went in very hopeful that it will become my new go to stout. I tried this beer and immediately was disappointed. This doesn’t have a stout flavor. It taste more like the arrogant bastard beer that was aged a bit. I didn’t expect it to have a super strong flavor with the low alcohol percentage which is only at 7.2%. I don’t recommend this beer to anyone looking for a new Stout beer to try. Don’t get me wrong. It doesn’t taste bad it just doesn’t taste like a Stout beer to me.

Wes - Arrogant Bastard says it all when it came to this stout. But honestly, it's Metallica so it's blackened. (if you get it) It tasted like an IPA more than an Arrogant Bastard or a stout in my opinion. But it seriously packed a punch like an Arrogant Bastard for sure. I dug it only because I really like IPA's and strong bodied beers. I had a girlfriend try the beer and she couldn't handle it. It was just too heavy for her. She wasn't worthy and like all Arrogant Bastard beers.. YOU AREN'T WORTHY. I'd say give this beer a shot if you like heavy IPA flavor.

The Bruery Or Xata

Joe - This Mexican Blonde Ale is a very interesting concept. I wanted to try it since it was suppose to taste like Horchata. I’ve tried other beers that attempted this and they either have to much Horchata taste to where it is overly sweet or not strong enough to make it really count. This one was very well done. It is a crisp clean beer that does taste like Horchatas. It isn’t overly sweet tasting. The flavor profile is perfectly balanced. I would love to pick this up if I’m about to have a bon fire and want to relax and not have anything to heavy or with a ton of alcohol content. This sits very nicely at 7.1%. I highly recommend this to anyone willing to try something new.

Wes - I first tried this beer at my local bar here in Whittier, CA called THE 6740. (A very sweet little bar if you're ever in town. They have great Beer Battered Cauliflower Bites by the way. Also, a very diverse list of beers.) When I first read the menu to the waitress I think I said, "can I try the Ex-or-rada??" to which she replied, "....Horchata" to which I quickly agreed. My date at the time laughed her ass off. Luckily for me it was on tap and boy was this delicious. On tap it the Ale was so light and refreshing. I got a hint of cinnamon and the shower of rice milk. Like horchata abuelita would make. So when I saw my local liquor store had got this beer in and in a 4-pack I jumped all over it. So upon telling you how delicious it was...when I tried the can version. It just wasn't the same. I know tap is better yada yada yada. Or maybe the good ole, "You gotta pour it in a glass and try it that way you noob!" Well i did that in a frozen glass and still the flavor wasn't as prominent as out of the tap. It's a great beer and The Bruery is really killing it right now with their beers. I definitely recommend this beer to everyone...BUT...if you can find it on tap GET IT!!
